Changing lives from the inside to the out

In2Out mentoring and resettlement support helps our participants – young people 15-21 years old – leaving prison to get ‘back on track’ and turn away from offending behaviour.

Based at HMYOI Wetherby in West Yorkshire, most of the young people we work with come from all over the North of England and, increasingly, the Midlands. We have helped them resettle into society after release and move towards independent living. We have brought reconciliation into families, order into chaotic lives and a sense of hope for the future.

In2Out provides ‘through the gate’ support, working with participants whilst they are still in custody, typically 3-6 months before release, continuing for, on average, one year back in the community.

Support includes:

* teaching life skills

* advocacy and ensuring basic needs are met on release

* help with employment, education and training opportunities

* developing social skills and working on relationships

* changing attitudes, developing resilience and growing confidence
